Oman: COMSOFT Wins Tender for Aeronautical Message Handling System The German ATC specialist COMSOFT has been chosen for the implementation of an Aeronautical Message Handling System in the Sultanate of Oman. Only recently the company carried out a similar project in Abu Dhabi, thus making the Middle East yet another cornerstone for AMHS-based technology. KARLSRUHE, GERMANY, January 2008 – Oman is striding into the future. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Meteorology (DGCAM) has awarded a contract for the implementation of an AMHS to the German ATC solution provider COMSOFT. The system is to be installed at the Seeb International Airport in Muscat, Oman. It is a further project of that kind COMSOFT is realizing in the Middle East. The main part of the new system, AIDA-NG, was developed originally for the European Communications Gateway back in the Nineties. Since then, it has been installed at numerous air control centres all over the world. In Muscat, the system will be complemented with the end-user AFTN/AMHS terminal CADAS and a top-of-the-line AIS solution. Although most neighbouring countries still work with AFTN, aeronautical centres such as Abu Dhabi, another COMSOFT customer, have already embarked on AMHS. The contracting parties have agreed on a very tight project schedule in order to meet the demands resulting from strongly increasing traffic figures in the region COMSOFT's representative in Oman, Zawawi Trading Company LLC, which belongs to the Sultanate's prestigious Omzest Group, will accompany the implementation of the system. COMSOFT GmbH was established in 1979 and has been active in the ATC domain for 20 years, having gained a world-wide reputation in this market. |
