Estonian ANS opts for future-proof eAIP solution powered by leading edge AIXM 5 technology The air navigation service provider of Estonia has inked contract with ATM expert COMSOFT for the supply of a fully automated electronic AIP production system with unprecedented AIXM 5 database functionality. TALLINN/ESTONIA, January 2009 – Estonian Air Navigation Service (ANS) is on the leading edge in AIM technology by selecting a unique eAIP solution conformant to EUROCONTROL's latest eAIP and AIXM 5 standards, which is due to enter service on Tallinn airport in 2009. After a large expansion project of the capital's airport, the Estonian organization decided on additionally implementing new processes for the overall improvement of aeronautical data as part of the migration plan to EAD. The heart of the system will be based on COMSOFT's Aeronautical Information Management database CADAS-AIMDB, fully implementing the upcoming standard AIXM 5. In contrast to the previous AIXM versions AIXM 5 entirely covers all static and dynamic aeronautical data. This is a crucial precondition for the effective realization of an integrated Aeronautical Information Management (iAIM) and improved aeronautical data consistency. The electronic AIP functionality will be provided in close cooperation with COMSOFT's partner for eAIP solutions, Synclude, by their market-leading product GroupVerve. COMSOFT and Synclude have joined their forces to support the high demand in the tight integration of eAIP with the overall AIM. Once the Estonian system has become operational, it can be augmented easily by using the existing open interfaces to incorporate a NOTAM office for managing digital and conventional NOTAMs. Moreover, the system can share data with charting and procedure design tools. Following this path, Estonia will be able to adopt AIM advancements at minimum risk and costs in a step-by-step approach. The contract between EANS & COMSOFT was signed on 23 January 2009 in Tallinn.
