NetTEST II V 3.14.C
PROFIBUS Analysis and Test Tool with new features

Karlsruhe, April 2008 – COMSOFT launches an improved upgrade version of the PROFIBUS DP analysis and test tool, NetTEST II.

Already the basic system is able to identify a multitude of possible errors. These include short circuits, line or shielding interruptions, switched lines, wrong number and position of terminating resistors, non powered termination resistors, non-terminated lines, incorrect spur lines and inhomogeneous lines in a PROFIBUS segment. It also indicates the line length as well as the line impedance, the baud rate and signal quality, the ident number and the live list of all DP Slaves.

With the new version, it is possible to set different sensitivity levels, even in the millivolt range. So, smallest reflections i.e. resulting from a multiple grounded shield can be detected. If no errors are displayed with the highest sensitivity level the installation regarding shielding or strand interruptions is of highest quality.

Furthermore we added a checksum  to our measurement protocol. This checksum makes it possible to check the measurement protocol for manipulations. Another new feature is the additional mandatory measurement without terminating resistors from the opposite end of the cable during the generation of the measurement protocol. So, shielding or strand interruptions can be detected securely on the very end of the cable.
