Protocol Drivers

The protocol drivers, available for the intelligent boards, comprise a wide range of transfer protocols: simple asynchronous point-to-point driver via synchronous variants, such as HDLC and X.25, to comprehensive PROFIBUS-drivers for the PROFIBUS-specific protocols and profiles.

The board hardware runs each protocol driver independently. Based on the real-time operating system kernel of the board, the architecture of the driver allows the simultaneous operation of several interfaces with different protocols - depending on the type of board used.

By means of the loadable software (real time operating system and protocol driver) the time for the exchange, in case of maintenance or update, is reduced to a minimum. With a firmware concept based on EPROM or Flash-EPROM, this would otherwise be quite time consuming.

comdrv

Comdrv
COMDRV can communicate with any kind of serial device supporting the protocols 3964R, DK3964R, and RK512 (S5).

unidrv

Unidrv
UNIDRV is used for the connection of asynchronous serial devices, such as printers, plotters, bar code scanners or scales.

msv2

MSV 2
MSV2 is a reliable, byte-synchronous transmission protocol which is mainly used forcoupling main-frames.

hdlc

HDLC
This proven driver is a bit-oriented, synchronous standard protocol for secured data transfer between PCs and data terminals.

frame

Frame
Frame is a bit-oriented standard protocol for synchronous data transmission between PCs and data terminals.

x.25

X.25
X.25 is a network protocol driver for connection to WANs. X.25 allows to run several logical channels on one physical line.

sinec-l1

Sinec-L1
SINEC-L1 is a local network for connection of up to 30 automation components, such as, for example, SIMATIC S5.

profibus

PROFIBUS
As PROFIBUS supports various different protocol variants, it is ideal for fast, time-critical data transfer, as well as for extensive and complex communication tasks.
